Dave began his career as a sales representative with American Hospital Supply Corp and subsequently “rose through the ranks” there, holding a variety of positions including 2 Divisional Presidencies. Following the acquisition of American by Baxter International, he was named Corporate VP and President. After Baxter, Dave went on to lead a number of healthcare and medical-product related companies, including AMSCO International (which he took public on the NYSE), Automated Healthcare (a start-up robotics company), Hawk Medical, and SHPS, Inc.
Dave has served as chairman of the Board of Forbes Regional Medical Center and the executive Board of the West Penn Allegheny Health System. He has also served on a number of corporate boards, including the companies he led (listed above) as well as Accertify, Inc. (acquired by American Express) and Perspecsys, Inc.
Matt joined the Ascent Ventures team in 2002 to continue his work with innovative early stage enterprise IT companies. Over the last decade at Ascent, Matt has focused on investments in data analytics (Interactive Supercomputing – acquired by Microsoft and Cymfony
– acquired by TNS and Terascala), cloud business services (HubCast
, andThe Corporate Marketplace
) and security (Fidelis
– acquired by General Dynamics, and Perspecsys
Matt has worked with emerging technology companies since 1996. He started his career at Alex Brown & Sons, where he helped execute both equity and M&A transactions. He then moved to Norwest Venture Partners, where he worked on venture investments such as Broadband Access Systems (acquired by ADC Telecom), Gold Wire Technology (acquired by Intelliden), and COSpace (acquired by InterNAP).
Philip is a Principal of Paladin Capital and focuses on investments in technology-driven companies in a variety of industries. He has been working with early-stage technology companies since 2000, when he joined FBR Technology Venture Partners (“FBRTVP”), a $200 million venture capital fund focused on software and telecommunications companies in the mid-Atlantic region. Prior to joining Paladin, he was a Vice President at Core Capital Partners, where he led investments in software and infrastructure companies including SilverStorm Technologies (acquired by QLogic, NASDAQ: QLGC) and RulesPower Corp. (acquired by Fair, Isaac; NYSE: FIC).
Philip began his career as a consultant at Dean & Company, working in the telecommunications and utilities industries as well as the firm’s private equity practice.
Steve is an accomplished entrepreneur and respected security technology executive. Steve has more than 20 years of experience driving growth and revenue at industry-leading technology companies. He has held executive positions across management, operations, marketing and sales – most recently as President and CEO of Solera Networks. He held this position from 2007 through 2013 and led the company’s explosive growth, positioning it as an acknowledged leader in innovative technologies focused on combating advanced enterprise security threats. In 2013, Steve led the successful sale of Solera to Blue Coat Systems, Inc.
As an industry visionary on advanced cybersecurity, he is a regular speaker at industry, business, and security events on big data security, advanced threat protection and security intelligence and analytics.
David is President and CEO of Perspecsys. Previously, David was SVP of Sales and Marketing at Irdeto Worldwide, a division of Naspers. Prior to that, David was the President and COO of Cloakware, which was acquired by Irdeto. Before joining Cloakware, David was the General Manager and Vice President of Sales for Cramer Systems (now Amdocs), a UK-based company, where he was responsible for the company’s revenue and operations in the Americas.
Prior to his work with Cramer, David held a variety of executive, sales management and business development positions with the Oracle Corporation, Versatility and SAIC.
